A guide to deciding

An in-house IT manager or an external company?

It's one of the decisions that most shapes a company's cost and technology risk. Here's our honest comparison, including when each option makes sense.

In-house IT manager ADMNetwork
company + CTO as a Service
Cost Fixed salary, social security, equipment and ongoing training. A monthly fee sized to what you need, with no hiring costs.
Availability One person: holidays, sick leave or a spike leave you exposed. A team with continuous cover and an SLA. You never depend on one person.
Knowledge What one person knows; if they leave, it leaves with them. Several specialisms (systems, security, networks, cloud, 3CX) and everything documented.
Strategic vision Usually firefighting, with no time for strategy. CTO as a Service: decisions with judgment and a three-year roadmap.
Purchasing & licensing Negotiates alone, with no volume. Access to the top distributors: better price, stock and support.
Scalability Growing means hiring more people. The service grows with you and follows you wherever you operate.
Getting started A hiring process of weeks or months. We start in days, with a proven method.

When an in-house manager does make sense

If technology is the core of your business and you need full-time dedication with very product-specific knowledge. In large companies, the norm is an in-house team backed by external partners.

When a company + CTO as a Service is better

For most SMEs and mid-sized firms: you want the day-to-day covered reliably, not to depend on one person, and technology leadership without the cost of an in-house CTO. This is the most common case.
